Intuition or fear – How to distinguish the inner voice from fear and make good decisions?

One of the most common questions in personal development is whether the decision you want to make comes from intuition or from fear. Both voices can be very convincing. Both appear in important moments. And both can influence your choices more than you think.

The problem is that when you do not distinguish these two qualities, it is easy either to stay in place or to go in a direction that is not aligned with you. Therefore, the ability to distinguish intuition from fear is one of the key competencies if you want to live in alignment with yourself and make decisions with greater certainty.

Intuition works differently than the mind. It is calm, quiet and specific. It does not need many arguments, it does not analyze endlessly, it does not create dramatic scenarios. It is rather a subtle sense of direction that appears in the body as lightness, openness or inner calm. Sometimes you cannot justify it logically, but you feel that something is “yours.”

Fear, on the other hand, has a completely different energy. It is loud, intrusive and full of tension. In it, many thoughts appear such as “what if,” “this will not work,” “you are not ready.” Fear tries to protect you, but it does so through limiting and stopping. In the body, it manifests as tightness, tension, accelerated breathing or a feeling of heaviness.

The greatest confusion appears when fear disguises itself as “reason.” It seems logical, convincing, and even responsible. In reality, however, its source is fear of change, judgment or the unknown. Intuition does not need such argumentation. It simply knows.

Recognizing the difference between intuition and fear does not take place on the level of thinking, but on the level of feeling. Therefore, it is crucial to return to contact with the body. It is precisely the body that first shows what is aligned with you and what is not.

You can do a simple test. Imagine one decision and pause for a moment. Pay attention to your breath, tension in the body, overall feeling. Does space and lightness appear, or rather tightness and closure? Then do the same with the second option. The difference is often clearer than you expect.

Also consider how your inner dialogue sounds. Is it calm and specific, or full of chaos and repeating fears? Do you feel that something opens you, or rather closes and blocks you?

It is worth remembering that fear is not your enemy. It is a protective mechanism that arose to keep you safe. The problem begins when it starts to make decisions for you. Intuition, on the other hand, leads to growth, even if it is connected with uncertainty.

The more often you return to yourself and learn to listen to the signals from the body, the easier it will be for you to distinguish these two voices. Over time, decisions will become simpler, and you will feel greater coherence and trust in yourself.

In my e-book “Trilogy of Power – Integration of body, mind and spirit” I show how to develop contact with intuition and at the same time recognize the mechanisms of fear. I share practices that help make decisions from a level of inner clarity, instead of chaos and excessive analyzing. These are concrete tools that you can introduce into your life right away to feel more certainty and calm.

💛 This is the third e-book from the series “Journey to Yourself” - a cycle that step by step leads you to reclaiming your power and authenticity. The third stage of this journey focuses on the integration of body, mind and spirit, so that you can make decisions in alignment with yourself, and not under the influence of fear.
